My journey into teaching singing

Singing has been a part of my life since I was five, fostering an early passion for music. My classical training in a choir honed my listening skills, and during my teenage years, I explored songwriting and solo performances, discovering my unique voice across jazz, pop, and soul genres. After completing my musical conservatoire studies, I pursued a career as a special needs teacher, where I found joy in sharing my love for music through engaging interactive sessions.

My personal vocal development led me to study singing teaching, particularly the IVA method, the Institute of Vocal Advancement. This method profoundly improved my own voice, giving me control and efficiency I hadn't experienced before. This personal transformation ignited a desire to share these effective tools with others, making me truly passionate about transforming singers' voices.

What makes my lessons unique?

My lessons stand out due to a unique blend of personal experience and professional expertise. Having significantly improved my own voice through the IVA method, I bring a deep understanding of its theory and practical application. This, combined with a fidelity to structured lessons, forms the core of my teaching.

Furthermore, my background as a special educational needs teacher allows me to tailor lessons to individual needs, ensuring that every student receives personalised and individual focused lessons. I also have a particular passion for working with worship leaders and church singers, drawing on my own experience as a worship leader at Holy Trinity Cambridge Church to offer flexible and understanding guidance for their specific vocal demands.

Who I love to teach

I am passionate about transforming any singer's voice, whether you're a beginner, a child, a teenager, or an adult. Singing can be therapeutic, a source of joy, and a path to professional development. Just like any instrument, the voice needs consistent practice to reach its full potential.

While I love working with amateurs who sing purely for enjoyment, I also enjoy guiding experienced voices preparing for auditions, regardless of style or genre. The methods I teach are versatile and effective for all musical styles, helping every student achieve their vocal ambitions.

Beyond technique: confidence and self-discovery

My ultimate goal for all my students is to help them gain confidence in their voice and discover a unique vocal identity that truly represents them. Whether you sing for personal joy and well-being, for therapeutic benefits, or with aspirations of a professional career, I want you to be ambitious and passionate about uncovering the best version of your voice.

I understand that this journey is a work in progress, requiring time, consistent practice, and dedicated effort. However, the rewards of this self-discovery and vocal mastery are incredibly fulfilling. Together, we'll unlock your full potential.
